The 2014-2016 Twin Cam touring bikes got the 49mm Showa fork but never got a factory-adjustable front end, and this is the Öhlins answer: NIX 22 fork cartridges with springs up front and STX Pro remote reservoir shocks out back, sold as one matched front and rear package. It is the same NIX 22 + STX Pro pairing we offer for the 2017-2023 Milwaukee-Eight bikes, built for the 2014-2016 chassis, and the step up in front-end adjustability from our FKC-based kit for these years.

What is in the kit

  • Öhlins NIX 22 fork cartridge kit (pair) with springs for the 49mm Showa fork. The NIX design runs compression damping in the left leg and rebound in the right, giving each circuit the full fork leg to work with. Compression, rebound, and spring preload adjustments all live at the top caps. Bolts into your original fork legs.
  • Öhlins STX Pro shocks (pair) in your choice of length, spring rating, and reservoir finish: black bodies with hose-mounted remote reservoirs. The remote reservoir adds oil capacity for consistent damping on long, hard, loaded miles, with fully adjustable compression, rebound, length, and spring preload.

Pick your rear shock length

13 in is the pick for most riders: more usable travel than the stock low-profile setup on Street Glide and Road Glide models, with seat height staying close to stock once sag is set. 12 in holds your bike at factory shock length for riders who are inseam limited or committed to the lower stance and willing to trade some travel for it.

Pick your spring rating

Ratings are total load ranges. 150-500 lb covers most solo riders and lighter two-up loads. 250-575 lb is for regular two-up riding, loaded bags and a trunk, or heavier total loads. If your combined rider, passenger, and cargo weight lives above roughly 240 lb most rides, take the heavier rating.

Pick your reservoir finish

Gold is the classic Öhlins Blackline look: black shock bodies with the signature gold reservoirs and adjuster nuts everyone recognizes from the racing paddock. Black is the stealth version of the same STX Pro shock, with blacked-out reservoirs for a murdered-out build. The Black reservoir finish is offered in the 150-500 lb spring rating only; if you need the 250-575 lb rating, choose Gold.

NIX 22 or our FKC kit?

Both of our 2014-2016 Öhlins kits use the same STX Pro rear shocks; the difference is the front. The NIX 22 in this kit gives you external compression, rebound, and preload adjusters at the fork caps, so you can tune the front end without opening the fork. The FKC kit has no external adjusters, which is exactly why it clears the Road King's headlight nacelle. If you ride a Road King, take the FKC kit; if you ride anything else and want the adjustable front, this is the one.

Rebuildable, not disposable

Every damper in this kit is built to be serviced and rebuilt rather than thrown away. Set it up once, maintain it on schedule, and it outlasts the bike loan by a decade.

Why front and rear together

Upgrade one end of a 900 lb bagger and the stock end immediately becomes the thing you feel. Mix mismatched lengths and rates, and you can change rake and trail enough to make a good bike handle badly. This kit pairs the NIX 22 cartridges with STX Pro rears in height-matched combinations so the chassis works as one system from the first ride.

Fitment

Fits 2014-2016 Harley-Davidson Touring models with the 49mm Showa fork, including Street Glide (FLHX, FLHXS), Electra Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCU, FLHTCUL), Ultra Limited Low (FLHTKL), CVO Limited (FLHTKSE), CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE), Road Glide Special (FLTRXS), and CVO Road Glide Ultra (FLTRUSE). Not for Road King (FLHR), whose headlight nacelle does not clear the NIX 22 top-cap adjusters (our 2014-2016 FKC kit fits Road King), and not for Tri Glide models, 2013 and earlier 41mm forks, or 2017 and newer Touring models (we carry a separate NIX 22 kit for those). The rear shocks in this kit fit 2014-2026 Touring on their own.

Ordering and install notes

Öhlins components can be built to order, so allow additional lead time. The rear shocks are a bolt-on install; the fork cartridge install requires fork disassembly and is worth shop time if you have not been inside a set of forks. Fork oil is consumed during the cartridge install and is purchased separately. Set sag front and rear for your load after install. Kit ships as two factory boxes, one pair of cartridges and one pair of shocks.
