2014-2025 Harley-Davidson Touring Fox Complete Front and Rear Suspension Kit (GRIP / GRIP ST 49mm Cartridges + IFP/QSR Rear Shocks)
Stock Harley touring suspension is built to hit a showroom seat height, not to carry a rider, a passenger, and loaded bags across three states. This kit fixes both ends in one order: Fox 49mm fork cartridges up front and a matched pair of Fox rear shocks, with spring rates selected together for your actual load. It is the same front and rear pairing Fox engineers these products around, sold as one part number so the lengths and rates cannot end up mismatched.
What is in the kit
- Fox 49mm fork cartridge kit (pair), in your choice of GRIP Street Performance or GRIP ST Adjustable. The GRIP is a sealed, opposed-piston cartridge design that keeps air out of the oil for consistent damping; the GRIP ST is Fox's highest-end open-bath cartridge with tool-free three-position compression and rebound adjusters on the fork caps. Both come with linear rate springs, negative springs for 2014-2016 models, 1 qt of Fox 5wt PTFE suspension fluid, and instructions.
- Fox rear shocks (pair) in your choice of series, spring rate, and length.
Pick your package
IFP (GRIP Front): Fox's internal floating piston monotube rear. Nitrogen charge stays separated from the shock oil so damping stays consistent on long days. Set the preload once and ride. The right choice if you want the stock bike fixed, not a project.
IFP-QSR (GRIP Front): The same IFP damper with Fox's tool-free QSR preload adjuster. Switch between solo and two-up settings in seconds without pulling the bags. The right choice if your passenger situation changes week to week.
QS3-QSR Remote Reservoir (GRIP Front): Fox's top touring shock. A hose-mounted remote reservoir adds oil capacity and a 3-position QS3 compression switch, paired with QSR preload adjustment. This is the performance bagger spec for riders who push a 900 lb bike through corners and want it composed.
QS3-QSR Remote Reservoir (GRIP ST Adjustable Front): The full flagship build. Upgrades the front to Fox's GRIP ST Adjustable cartridge, their highest-end drop-in kit, with three-position compression and rebound switches on the fork caps so you can tune the front end by hand, no tools, to match the QS3-QSR settings out back. This is the exact front and rear combination Fox recommends for the ultimate touring setup, and the best-selling cartridge in their V-Twin line.
Pick your spring rate
On GRIP Front packages, spring rates are matched front and rear. Standard covers up to about 240 lb of total ride load (rider plus gear plus what you normally carry). Heavy Duty covers over 240 lb of total load or riders who regularly carry a passenger. If you two-up loaded most of the time, take the Heavy Duty. On the GRIP ST package, the front cartridge comes in a single spec with a wide adjustment range, so your spring rate choice sets the rear shock springs. Riding at the extreme end, up to around 370 lb of total load? Fox makes a Super Heavy Duty spring in the 13 in IFP-QSR shock; find it in our Fox rear shock listings and pair it with the Heavy Duty cartridge kit.
Pick your rear shock length
13 in is the comfort pick and the one most riders choose. It adds roughly an inch of rear wheel travel over the stock 12 in shocks on Street Glide and Road Glide models, and with sag set correctly the seat height stays close to stock. Ultra and Limited models came with 13 in shocks from the factory and gain the damping upgrade at the same height. 12 in keeps your Street Glide or Road Glide at exact factory shock length, the pick if you are inseam limited or committed to the lower stance and willing to give up that extra travel. The 12 in QS3-QSR Remote Reservoir comes in Standard spring only.
Why front and rear together
Ask any touring owner who upgraded one end first: the moment the rear works properly, the stock front feels worse, and vice versa. Worse, mixing mismatched lengths and rates changes rake and trail and can make a good bike handle badly. Every combination in this kit pairs standard length 49mm cartridges with a shock length that keeps steering geometry where Harley intended it.
Fitment
Fits 2014-2025 Harley-Davidson Touring models with 49mm forks, including Street Glide (FLHX, FLHXS), Road Glide (FLTRX, FLTRXS, FLTRK), Road King (FLHR, FLHRXS), Electra Glide, and Ultra Limited (FLHTK), plus most CVO variants through 2022. Not compatible with 2023 and newer CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models with inverted 47mm front ends, or with 2013 and earlier Touring models with 41mm forks. Check the full fitment list on this page or use our suspension finder to confirm your exact model and year.
Install and setup notes
The rear shocks are a bolt-on job with basic hand tools. The fork cartridge install requires removing and disassembling the fork legs, so plan on shop time if you have not been inside a set of forks before. Set rear sag and fork preload (and on GRIP ST, your compression and rebound switch positions) for your load after install; it takes twenty minutes and it is the difference between good parts and a great ride. Kit ships as two factory boxes, one pair of cartridges and one pair of shocks.
